PreschoolWhere it all begins
Welcome to St. James Preschool

Our weekday Preschool, sponsored by St. James United Methodist Church is a community ministry of the Church. Here we seek to provide experiences that will help your child to grow in many ways — physically, emotionally, spiritually, socially, and intellectually. We also seek to provide a Christian (nondenominational) atmosphere in which love, understanding, and individual concern make this growth possible. We will help your child grow in independence and in his adjustment to the world beyond the home.
We feel it is important to have small classes; therefore, our maximum class size is set at 17 children with 2 teachers. A typical session at our school would include a variety of activities to aid in the development of the whole child. Our teachers, trained in early childhood education techniques, will catch that special moment to explain a math concept, develop a language skill, or point out a wonder of nature, as the opportunity presents itself during the time your child is with us.

A visit to our school is an excellent way to gain a better understanding of our philosophy and goals.
Admission to our preschool
Our enrollment process is very simple. Download the registration forms. Contact us for an appointment to come tour our wonderful preschool. Submit your filled out forms and registration fee. An administrator will confirm the availability of space and reviewed the necessary paperwork. This includes basic enrollment and health information. Then one of our administrators will contact you with the good news and next steps.
For the safety of your child, we ask that any change to this information be communicated to the office immediately so that we may maintain up to date information in your child’s file. A medical form signed by a physician or certified nurse practitioner is required to be submitted within 30 days of admission and should be updated every 13 months.
Every journey begins with the first step. Let’s get you started.
2018-2019 Preschool Parent Booklet
CalendarDownload the St. James Preschool Parent Booklet. This icludes all the necessary parent information such as calendar, teachers, philosophy, goals and policies. This is a great source of information to keep handy in case you have any questions. Of course you can always email or call us directly as well. But it is always nice to have this by your side.
Meet our teachers
Our teachers come from quite varied backgrounds. Most of our teachers have been here in Miamisburg at St. James for at least 10 years, and several over 15 years. They have the experience necessary to develop, grow and guide your children to become kind and respectful young children who are ready to take the next step in their education experience. Once our children complete the preschool program, they are very well prepared to tackle the rigors of kindergarten and beyond.
Many of our teachers have seen their own children pass through these halls. They gleefully share their life experiences. They teach the children to love one another, to interact well with each other and to have a desire to learn.
In their spare time, many can be seen volunteering in many organizations in Miamisburg, coaching T-ball or helping out here in our Childcare Center. We are extremely blessed to have such a diverse and professional staff.
